The Devil May Care with Celestial Bums - An Interview

***** Interview with Celestial Bums *****

Q. When did Celestial Bums starts, tell us about the history...
After living abroad for some years, destiny brought me back to Barcelona. Soon after, I got convinced to start a new project here. I began looking for some other musicians in order to develop some demos I had. I was so fortunate to find people who where as passionate about the project as I was. Celestial Bums begun in early 2011.

Q: Who are your influences?
What united us was basically neo-psychedelia. But influences are all the things that you have absorbed through your life and that unconsciously sleep inside you. In that case, sixties west coast sound, german kraut, british cold wave or UK in the early seventies form the main part of the soundtrack. Or, if you want, Mike Oldfield appears in the dark and wakes up Morricone who calls Robert Smith. He explains some chords to Syd Barret. Lou Reed gets it all, while Morrison reads the beatniks beside him. They have a baby, and they name him Anton.

Q. Made a list of 5 albuns of all time…
The Doors - The Doors
Pink Floyd - The Piper at the gates of dawn
Mike Oldfield - Ommadawn
The Rollling Stones - Exile On Main Street
The Brian Jonestown Massacre - Their Satanic Majesties Request

Q. How do you fell playing alive?
Like having sex with the existence, like honoring your soul.

Q. How do you describe Celestial Bums sounds?
It's trippy, hypnotic, lysergic. The most psychedelic of all are nature and the reality it presents us with, and we try to capture its essence through sound.

Q: Tell us about the process of recording the album?
We self-recorded the album in our rehearsal studio. It was basically joy because we did not expect anything.

Q. Which new bands do you recommended?
2 bands from other countries: Our friends from Los Angeles Fool's Gold and Tales of murder and dust.
2 bands from Spain: Our friends from Lüger and Pony Bravo.

Q: Which bands you love to made a cover version?
To know if a musician understands us, we make him learn The Warlock's So paranoid.

Q: What´s the plans for future....
We are going to release 2 new songs. We might split a vinyl with Scotland's Helicon, through Psilocybin Sounds

Q: Any parting words?
We always say "Psych & Love"
