Strawberry Wine with Indoor Voices - An Interview

Srs, Indoor Voices.

***** Interview with Indoor Voices *****

Q. When did Indoor Voices started, tell us about the history...
A: IV was the next logical step after the first band I was in fizzled out (junetile) I kept writing songs, a lot of which I threw away, but when a friend and local producer built me a Jazzmaster, it changed my writing a lot.

Q: Who are your influences?
I find most of my influence in classic shoegaze bands, but also in a lot of ambient music, melancholy instrumental stuff. I think influence isn't necessarily a conscious thing. I've caught myself working on vocal melodies and thought "oh that reminds of bjork" or Phil Collins even. I dunno.

Q. Make a list of 5 albuns of all time…
5 desert island records

Loveless - My Bloody Valentine
A Winged Victory for the Sullen - A Winged Victory for the Sullen
N°1 - Christina Vantzou
Serena Maneesh - Serena Maneesh
Twin Hand Movement - Lower Dens

Q. How do you feel playing live?
Uncomfortable.

Q. How do you describe Indoor Voices sounds?
Melting pot.

Q: Tell us about the process of recording the songs ?
Most of the songs are recorded in a basement. If you don't have money for a fancy studio you should work within your means. I like the immediacy of that workflow. It's not ideal but I've been lucky to have friends who are pros guide me in getting the most out of what I have. Q. Which new bands do you recommended? SISU (Los Angeles) Star Horse (Stockholm) Alligator Indian (Asheville)

Q: Which band would you love to made a cover version of?
I've always wanted to do a cover of The Cults "Here comes the rain" but every time I start, something isn't right so I put it off.

Q: What´s the plans for future....
Finish our EP. Raise my daughter to hopefully go into something other than music.

Q: Any parting words?
Thank you for searching out new music. The world is such a small place these days. Love.
