Uneasy with Sheer - An Interview

***** Interview with Sheer *****

Q. When did Sheer start? Tell us about the history...
Gina: Sean and I started jamming in hopes of writing heavier doom metal stuff. He knew Anthony and Jules already through mutual friends and decided to add them to the mix. Eventually, when the 4 of us starting writing together and all of our musical influences sort of blended into what Sheer is today.

 Q: Who are your influences?
Sean/Gina: Black Sabbath, Weezer, Boris, Slowdive, Hum, Brand New...

The list could go on for days..

 Q. Make a list of 5 albuns of all time…
Sean/Gina:
Black Sabbath's "Vol. 4"
Cursive's "Burst and Bloom"
Slowdive's " Just For A Day"
Boris' "Pink"
Sleep's "Dopesmoker"

 Q. How do you feel playing live?
Sean/Gina: Anxious, nervous, probably sweaty

 Q. How do you describe Sheer sounds?
Sean: I feel like everyone hears everything differently and we leave it up to the listener to decide our "sound."

Q: Tell us about the process of recording the songs ?
Sean: The songs were recorded over the course of a few months. We were very particular of how we wanted the finished product to sound. We didn't want to release it until we were all happy with how it sounded. I think it's best to wait until you are 100% satisfied with something and then release it rather than pushing something out, just to get it out there sooner and risk making compromises.

 Q. Which new bands do you recommend?
Sean/Gina: These may not be new bands to everyone, but hopefully whoever is reading this will check them out.

Young Lovers - https://bandofyounglovers.bandcamp.com/
Plush - https://plushsf.bandcamp.com/
Losing End - https://losingend.bandcamp.com/
Sustains - http://sustains.bandcamp.com/

Wish Radio and Unmourned as well, although they don't have recordings out just yet.

Q: Which band would you love to made a cover version of?
Gina: I always think about how fun it would be to cover Type O Negative. We could all use chains as guitar straps.

Q: What are your plans for the future?
Sean: Touring and writing a new album.

Gina: tourtourtourtourtourtour

 Q: Any parting words?
Sean: Thank you so much for talking with us. And thank you to everyone who has checked us out live or listened to our album at all! New music video is in the works.

Gina: Everything that Sean said plus: LISTEN TO PLUSH
